1. What is the difference between a spa and a hot tub?
Nowadays - nothing.
Originally, a spa was made from acrylic or other type
of thermoplastic. A tub was a wooden tank made from redwood/cedar or
other similar wood. Both had therapy jets, pump and heater. Both
were designed for relaxation.
2. What are the health benefits?
Relief from tension, aching muscles, promotion of better sleep and relaxation.
Studies show that soaking for 30 minutes per day benefits
certain types of
diabetics and reduces
the amount of insulin required. A spa will also
benefit people suffering from arthritis, by helping to improve flexibility,
range of motion and easing pain.
3. Should a spa be located inside or out?
Your choice. Most popular is outdoors, where you can relax under the
stars and savour soaking in warm swirling water. If you choose to
position your spa inside, you must take into consideration
the access (are
the openings large enough), the weight of the spa and ventilation. Remember - a spa
will produce a lot of steam.
